Stop Procrastinating…Tomorrow!

Welcome to a brand new year! If you’re like me, you’ve probably got a list of New Year’s Resolutions. And, like me, you probably already broken 1 or most of them a minute after midnight on the January 1st!;)

One of the things that I am swearing off is procrastination! It starts young and gets worse as we age- the ability and desire to stall, or procrastinate. But it is important that we understand that not only are we putting our lives on hold when we do this, we ultimately cause a snow-ball effect of tension and stress that is detrimental to our physical and mental health.

Here are some tips to avoid the vicious cycle of procrastination in 2012:

1.) Find out what it is that you tend to procrastinate. For me it’s balancing the checkbook (I hate numbers)! Try and visualize what it would be like to finish the task, and finish it successfully. What can you do to take a step forward in that direction?

2.) Create a list and break it down into smaller “bite sized” pieces. Sometimes difficult tasks are easier to tackle when they aren’t go overwhelming.

3.) If you are more motivated by rewards/punishment, check out www.procrasdonate.com, the “charitable incentive to procrastinate less.” Only problem is if you’re a “giver” like me…this may become your new addiction. But that’s entire other blog post subject all together!;) lol

So what are some of the things you’ve been putting off that you intend to accomplish this year? Don’t procrastinate! Post them in the comments section below!:)
